Hand-knit from the finest Irish Alpaca wool & hand-dyed naturally using colour extracted from plants. Beautifully soft and durable with a silk-like luxurious quality, alpaca is one of the warmest natural fibres known. Due to the structure of alpaca fibres, it has excellent thermal regulating properties which will keep you warm through the cold months ahead. Alpaca fibre is lightweight, incredibly soft, hypoallergenic & water-resistant.

Made from the hair of Irish Alpacas raised with love in Co. Wicklow & handknit by my daughter. The fibre has been prepared for dyeing through a process known as scouring which removes any oils or waxes. It is then soaked in a natural mordant solution which helps the dye bind to the fibre and increases colour & light fastness.

Once the fibre has been scoured and mordanted, I prepare the dye baths from pure plant extracts and dye each skein of yarn individually. Using a combination of rainwater and plant-based ingredients, I dye all our textiles without the use of any harmful chemicals or synthetic ingredients, making our textiles truly eco-friendly.

After the yarn is dyed & dried, it is then knit into hats by my daughter, Kaijsa (a very talented knitter). I managed to convince her to knit a very small collection of naturally dyed items for the shop this year.

All our pieces are washed with an eco-friendly detergent before carefully labelling & packaging in recycled or FSC paper products. Making everything we offer as environmentally conscious and considerate as possible.
