Plant Dyed Scarf
This Cotton scarf has been dyed by hand using extract from the heartwood of the Acacia Catechu tree. A small thorny tree native to South Asia, grown in Indonesia, East Africa and tropical America. It has then been over dyed with natural Indigo powder which comes from the leaves of Indigofera tinctoria plant. The dye extracted from this plant is one of the oldest know natural dyes used by man.
The process of hand dyeing is labour intensive as our textiles have to be carefully dipped to achieve the shades you see.
