This cotton scarf has been dyed by hand using dye extracted from the leaves of the Indigo plant. Indigo has been used as a natural blue dye for centuries with many vibrant examples still surviving today. There are many different varieties of Indigo plants & we use used "Indigofera Tinctoria" from India to dye these pieces.
The process of hand dyeing is labour intensive as our textiles have to be carefully dipped over many hours to achieve the shades you see. We have this scarf is a few different shades of Indigo however this one is the longest in length at roughly 230cm/90.5" in length.
The second photo is for colour reference, we have this scarf available in Dark, Medium, Light & Pale Indigo. Dark farthest right, medium (second from right) light (third from right) & pale (farthest left). This scarf is second from right.
