Since the late 1890s, functionality and form have been integral to the craftsmanship of the humble Aran geansaí. Today, the tradition and technique continue to evolve in this collaboration between myself and Scout. Brought to life during the lockdowns of this past year, this project was a joy in such a time of uncertainty.
Crafted using traditional patterns & knitting techniques, these Aran sweaters have been knit using 100% pure Merino wool & hand-dyed using 100% pure natural plant dyes. A classic addition to any Winter (Spring & Autumn) wardrobe, these sweaters will keep you warm through the cold days ahead.
Using rainwater, each sweater has undergone a lengthy process of pre-soaking, hand-washing, mordanting & hand-dying to create a limited run of one of a kind Aran sweaters. Using two different natural dyes, Indigo (blue) and Cutch (tan), the tones reflect the striking hues of Ireland’s beautiful landscape in the soft merino wool of the jumpers.
Due to the nature of plant dyeing, each sweater is one of a kind with the characteristics of the dyeing process adding depth and richness to each piece. Some shades are darker and others lighter, each piece may come with small irregularities which add to the beauty and uniqueness of each jumper.

If you are still unsure measure the chest & length ( from armpit to armpit & from shoulder seam to hem of front length ) of your favourite sweater and use that as a guide. If you're still having problems figuring it out (shopping online is hard) feel free to email and I can help you with the sizing.
