2018 Dublin | Introduction to Indigo + Shibori Workshop | April 13th
Indigo is a natural dye, which comes from plants, that gives a vibrant and beautiful blue colour when used to dye fibers and textiles. Indigo is a magical plant and dye to work with & I am excited to share the wonder and joy of it with you in this workshop.
Come join us Friday 13th April from 10-2pm at The Fumbally Stables in Dublin for a intensive hands-on workshop. You will learn the basics in Indigo dying & creating patterns using the ancient art of Shibori. I will show you how to set up your own Indigo Vat , we will explore various different Shibori Techniques of binding, clamping, tying to create beautiful textile patterns. After some fun exploration & experimentation you will incorporate what you have learnt into a final piece for you to take home.
ALL MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED and you will leave with all samples made in class and a few extra special surprises! You are also welcome to bring 1-3 small pieces (no duvet covers!) of your own to dye. Please wear comfortable clothing/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. We will take a break around 1.5 hours into the day, so please bring food or money for lunch. The Fumbally Cafe is located next door to the stables so you can grab lunch there if you like.
Class size is limited & our workshops fill up fast so sign up early to avoid disappointment

"And thank you again for Saturday. We really enjoyed the workshop - learning about the dyeing process has given us a heightened appreciation of all hand-dyed textiles!"
"I attended Kathryn's Indigo and Shibori workshop last Saturday and had such a great day. I had no prior experience with dying fabric and wasn't sure what to expect. Kathryn did a really lovely job of explaining everything to us and gave us so many opportunities to work through the techniques ourselves. It was a very hands on experience and surprisingly peaceful as we needed patience to wait for the colour to take hold on the fabric. Everyone in the group was super nice and really easy to talk to and Kathryn made us all feel so welcome. Definitely an experience to be repeated! :)"
