This cotton scarf has been dyed by hand using dye extracted from the leaves of the Indigo plant. Indigo has been used as a natural blue dye for centuries with many vibrant examples still surviving today. There are many different varieties of Indigo plants & we use used "Indigofera Tinctoria" from India to dye these pieces.
The process of hand dyeing is labour intensive as our textiles have to be carefully dipped over many hours to achieve the shades you see.
The second photo is for colour reference, we have this scarf available in Dark, Medium, Light & Pale Indigo. Dark farthest right, medium (second from right) light (third from right) & pale (farthest left). This scarf is third from right.
